2024 Four-star linebacker Kamar Mothudi commits to Oregon

Yesterday afternoon Kamar Mothudi (the "H" is silent; it's pronounced “Moh-Toody” which in Botswana means blacksmith) committed to the Oregon Ducks. He's the 20th commitment in the 2024 class, a 6-3, 220-pound linebacker from Los Alamitos High in Los Alamitos, California.

He plans to graduate early and join the team in January.

As a junior at Campbell Hall High School in North Hollywood, Kamar amassed 111 tackles, 17 tackles-for-loss, four sacks and two interceptions on defense with 1,617 yards and 18 touchdowns running the football.

Mothudi is good friends with recent Duck commit at linebacker Dylan Williams. The two play on the same elite 7-on-7 squad during the summer. Their chemistry should make them even more effective playing in the middle on the Oregon defense.

What stands out about him as a player is his intelligence. He told Mike Martin of the website RealDawg Huskies, ”In big plays I’ve made the game seems to slow down because of things I’ve studied so much.  You train your eyes to know what to look for and how to react faster.”

Mothudi's made three visits to Oregon since January, including his official visit on June 23rd where he met and talked with Kayvon Thibodeaux, Unanimous All-American at UO and first-round draft pick of the New York Giants in 2022.

Kamar rose quickly in recruiting circles after breakout performances at prospect camps this winter. He earned an invitation to the 2024 All-American Bowl in January, then in February he was MVP at  the National Preps Showcase at Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas. Competing head-to-head against elite competition, he's shined.

He played three sports at Campbell, football, basketball and track, with top times of 11.88 in the 100 meters, 23.85 in the 200, 52.90 in the 400.

This video with two reporters from Nebraska shows his poise, something that helped him navigate a whirlwind recruiting process.
