In recruiting, the Ducks are 600 pounds short of a perfect season

Duck Territory has a breakdown of the Oregon targets at defensive tackle. Sacramento product Villiami Moala (6-6, 320 lbs.) recently committed to Cal, and Antwaun Woods (6-1,315) to USC. Whispers are that the most coveted target, Kevin McReynolds of Washington D.C. (6-3, 280) is having trouble working in an Oregon recruiting visit. The Ducks also lost out out on Auburn Washington defensive tackle Danny Shelton, who elected for the Huskies.

On the current roster, Ricky Heimuli appears close to a decision on his Mormon mission, and indications are he may elect to delay it and stay on the football squad. Heimuli played in all 13 games this year and had nine tackles. #66 Taylor Hart (listed at 6-6, 262) is a Tualatin High grad who had 18 tackles and two sacks and Hawaiia native Wade Keliipiki also had 18 stops, including one in the bowl game. Both redshirt freshmen in 2010, these two are hard workers and could continue to develop under d-line coach Jerry Azzinaro, who has a long record of grooming tough, resourceful linemen with technique and desire. Junior college transfer Isaac Remington has had a year to acclimate and may compete for playing time.

Incoming jc product Jared Ebert (6-5, 285) had offers from Oklahoma State,TCU, West Virginia, Missouri, Iowa State, Kansas, Washington State,  and Penn State. He shows promise in his highlight video, shedding blocks and running down jc caliber quarterbacks and runners with ease, dominant at that level. He graduates in March and will be able to attend spring practice. Junior college tackles typically don't produce much in their first year, however. Ebert could be a giant exception--Rivals reports he has a 30-inch vertical jump, 4.8 speed, and a 500-lb. squat.

If the bowl game taught Duck fans anything, it showed what a game changer a standout defensive tackle can be. There may not be any Nick Fairleys in this group, but they should be able to adequately replace Brandon Bair and Zac Clark. One or two of them may exceed expectations and become a force in the middle. Until they do, it remains an area of concern in the Oregon defense.

In other recruiting news, The Duck Stops Here special correspondent Bob Petty sends along a recruiting video of Oregon's next great point guard.
