Quick, Pass Me the Tryptophan: Alarming Notes from Practice

Ken Goe posted a practice report, and he notes Weems, Kaiser and Tuinei missed all or part of the workout, and LaMichael James showed up a half hour before the end.

He watched, with his leg wrapped.

Young bodies heal, and if James can get cleared to play, he'll be there. Not uncommon for there to be bumps and bruises before the 11th game of the season.

But LaMichael on the sidelines is a big challenge for an offense that struggled last time out.

He is simply on the sidelines to let him rest so he can be at his "freshest" come Saturday. I actually am extremely impressed that Chip and the stuff had the insight to realize the kid really doesn't need the practice as much as he needs to be healthy. I am also trying to look at it as a plus, since Barner will be getting more practice reps in. I, for one, am really hoping Barner can have another coming out party on Friday night. This time out of the slot position. GO DUCKS!

  2. Nick--I think you're probably right, and I sure hope you are, but Tuesday is panic day, and I feel panicked about this game. Some big yards from Barner out of the slot would be an excellent bonus.

  3. Dale Everything is going to be okay. Breathe. LT will be out and God willing back by Jan.1. Not cool but you know as well as I, this is a completely different team than what you and I are familiar with. The Ducks have never had the pure talent in the depth chart to replace an LT with a J. Huff. Barner at 100% is a serious weapon. Everything is going to be fine.

  4. DG--

Huff has been exciting in limited duty with the three veterans ahead of him. He's made a lot of big plays off the bench. Be interested to see if he can replace LT's downfield blocking. Moseley tweeted that he had a big block on a kickoff return in practice Tuesday, blocked someone all the way to the wall. A healthy Barner is a huge weapon. Before his injury he was off to a great start. He was a key difference in the Cal game, really gave the offense a boost in that final drive.

Thanks for your comment, and for visiting.

    Have a great Thanksgiving.
