Jake Locker is benched with a cracked rib and a redshirt freshman with nine career passes takes over. Steve Sarkisian, a former star quarterback at BYU, has taken over the scout team in practice, running plays with his coaching whistle around his neck, trying to get the Husky defense ready for Oregon's breakneck tempo.
The Huskies would be outmanned even if Locker started. They could not be inspired if Locker or even Sarkisian pulled a Willis Reed. Neither of them play defense. The Huskies gave up 278 yards rushing to Stanford, and give an average of 212.1 per game, 114th in the country. The Oregon record of 465, from the Stormtrooper Game in 2007, could be in jeopardy.
The Vegas Wise Guys have Oregon a 36-point favorite, and the over/under at 67.5. Here's a simple formula for calculating the outcome, keeping in mind that simple formulas are usually wrong: Stanford beat the Dawgs 41-0 in Seattle. The Huskies are an awful road team. The Ducks are 22 points better than the Cardinal. Home field advantage is worth three.
Oregon 66-Washington 0. LaMichael James with 185 in a quarter and a half.
