The Ducks hold on to number one in the BCS, and still control their destiny for the National title.
The Cal players and fans had a lot to say after the game about they should have won or could have won or would have won if the kicker had made the field goal.
They didn't win, and won't win, and Oregon took a knee at the Cal 17 on the last two plays of the game. Oregon possessed the ball for the final 9:25, reeling off six straight first downs in a determined march down the field, overcoming a holding penalty and a sack.
That's will and perseverance in adversity. That's controlling your own destiny.
When you do that, you don't need woulda, coulda, shoulda.
That's what we used to say ourselves, in the bad old days.
