The Major League Baseball Draft includes far more players and many more rounds, but it's weird that six Ducks were selected from Oregon's disappointing, underachieving 2011 baseball squad, while the football team, 12-1, PAC-10 Champions, ranked third in the country, had just one player drafted.
The Ducks reached the National Championship with a team that had an average recruiting class rank of 25th. Amazing to think what Chip Kelly and his staff might achieve in the future. His first two classes were ranked 9th and 10th, and the 2012 class has several top talents on the short list, including linebacker Kwon Alexander, defensive tackle Azziz Shittu, defensive tackle Ellis McCarthy, defensive end DeForest Buckner, athlete D.J. Foster, defensive back Reggie Daniels, and Aloha running back Thomas Tyner.
