Cliff Harris faced the media today, and oregonlive has a transcript. He was on point and on message, candid and entertaining as always, confident but not brash.
He sounds focused and ready. He used the words "team" or "we" repeatedly. He gave credit to the opponent and expressed his love for competing.
The media tried to bait him a little into saying something outlandish but he avoided any bulletin board moments.
Harris is a tremendously likeable kid. He's spirited and original, and plays with a lot of heart.
The Ducks have a lot of kids like that. They're not always as quick with a quote, but as a team, they are remarkable for their enthusiasm, unselfishness, and focus. Tony Di Franscisco made the point the other day that the incoming Ducks are showing signs of the same kind of character. Tacoi Sumler, a wide receiver, actively recruited Devon Blackmon, another talented player at his position.
Oregon is a special place, and it's heartening to hear the players feel that way also. Here's an excerpt from Harris' interview:
Q: Talk about choosing Oregon?
A: “On my visit to Oregon, I already committed in my mind
instantly. I knew I was going there.”
Q: What made you commit?
A: “The players, the coaches, how the fans were going crazy, just
everything about Oregon. The green – I love green. So just
everything.”
