2nd Quarter

Matthew is playing possessed, intense football, meeting Quizz in the hole and stuffing him on 2nd and 8.

3rd and 8. Talmadge Jackson in coverage on the hitch. 1st down.

Talmadge Jackson gathers in a tip from Spencer Paysinger, returns 52 yards to the 20.

The Fat Kids Living the Dream are being the fat kids standing around. Pressure and penetration on every down. Huff with a drop.

Beard knuckles through a go-ahead field goal.

If Katz has to throw in this game, the Beavers are in trouble. He makes bad decisions under pressure.

Kick coverage has been poor. Poyer gets it near the 40.

Soft, porous defense on third down today. Wheaton underneath on 3rd and 4.

Matthews peels off and sniffs out a screen, stuffs it.

Slant in front of Jackson, but its tipped at the line by Hart and Jackson covers, incomplete.

Beavs set up for a 52 yard field. Fake! Looked like Turner had another pick, but the announcers didn't call it. Oregon ball, and Hekker, their punter is in pain, holding his arm.

Check it-- the pick was by Michael Clay.

James for 18 scooting around the right end. He has not been as elusive at the second level in the second half of the year.

I love the way Barner gets upfield. Option for 14, Then Huff for 15 on an option reverse.

Barner busts a tackle by Paea and cuts up for 16.

James left, coasts in for 8 yards and the score. 16-7. Now the game has a normal, rhythm. If the Ducks can stop the OS offense this series, and mount another drive, the Beavers will be done. Fired up has left the building.

James 9 carries for 64 and a td.

Poyer with another good return. The ko team was great last week against Arizona, but Poyer's gained positive field position every time.

3 and out, Hekker flirts with a brilliant 58 yard rugby-style punt, but it breaks the plane of the end zone. Oregon ball on the 20. This will be no game of destiny, where the Beavers get every bounce.

The Ducks have righted themselves, and now they can put down the hammer.

Barner slashes right for 15 and a first down, good block by Huff.

Barner left for 13. Beavs aren't fast enough on the edges.

Thomas rolls right, a strike to Maehl for 15. The announcers say "relentless."

James powers for 7 and a first.

Zone read left, James for another first down.

Beavers stiffen inside the 10. Beard misses his fourth field goal in his last five tries. Blocked extra point, missed field goal. The kicking game, a concern before the game, continues to be not big-game worthy.

Missing the field goal is another unearned emotional boost for the Beavers. 19-7 is psychologically more imposing. Punching in a score with a four-minute drive before half would have given Oregon a decided edge. Now the Beavs have a little life. They can tell themselves they're still in this game.

The Ducks have two fumbles and the two kicking miscues, keeping OSU in this game. Oregon's outgained the Beavs 242 yds to 126.
