Former Duck running back LeGarrette Blount put a punctuation mark on his comeback by rumbling for 164 yards on 18 carries against Seattle today. With one game to go Blount is closing in on a 1,000 yard season, and could be the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
With current Duck LaMichael James winning the Doak Walker Award and leading the country with over 1600 yards rushing, it will become harder and harder for the critics and negative recruiters to say the Oregon system doesn't prepare backs for the next level.
The three young backs in the system, Seastrunk, Williams and new verbal commit Tra Carson, have to be inspired by all this success.
With the evidence being stacked against the negative recruiters, they've moved on from RB to QB with their weak arguments. Oh, and it rains sometimes in Oregon, too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Darron Thomas will be the one to bust the quarterback argument wide open.
ReplyDeleteIdk about Seastrunk. If LaMike comes back for another year, I'm betting Lache transfers out. He had growing pains in camp, and I don't think he wants to be 3rd deep getting little to no carries on ANY college team, even if it's the best.
ReplyDeleteHe's good at what he does, and not getting the chance to showcase that, ESPECIALLY after being highly recruited, has got to be frustrating.
It takes a lot of maturity and commitment to wait your turn when you are used to being the star, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, no one showcases multiple weapon better than Kelly.
I hope Seastrunk stays, because he could be really special as a Duck. Lots of interesting decisions to be made in the next couple of months, including his, James' and a half dozen marquee recruits.
