1st Quarter: UCLA at Oregon

Cool to hear Ducks announced as number one in the country, and hear "national championship" tossed around.

The UCLA-Texas game inevitably comes up. The Bruins surprised Texas. They won't surprise the Ducks. And Oregon is quite a bit better than this year's Texas team.

The only common opponents are Washington State and Stanford. The Bruins lost to Stanford 35-0 at home, escaped 42-28 with a fourth quarter rally vs. The Cougars.

The kids like the multiple uniform combos, but I miss green and yellow. Hope they wear throwbacks for the Beaver game, at least.

Some big games this weekend, with Oklahoma at Mizzou, LSU at Auburn. Ducks could strengthen their hold on number one.

Ducks have to take better care of the football tonight.

Kelly to the obligatory blonde sideline reporter: "Pressure is what you feel when you don't know what you're doing, and we know what we're doing so we don't feel pressure."

1st play Brehaut rolls right, soft zone, 9 yards.

1st down and a face mask. This is a flag-happy crew, but it was a correct call.

Roll right, underneath, another easy 8 yards.

Franklin for four. Haven't seen a decisive defensive play yet.

Okay, third and six.

John Boyett! Good read by Boyett over the top.

Thomas with chunks of yards to Paulson and Maehl.

Davis runs tough, but too predictable on third down.

Fourth and six? We don't feel pressure because we know what we're doing. Thomas to James is a new dimension in the offense. Great checkdown.

And a brilliant, beautifully-paced drive. LaMichael a decoy for the first few plays, then turn him loose.

Ridiculous to review that touchdown. This crew is indecisive and borderline incompetent. I don't criticize officials much generally, but this is a primetime game. Send the primetime crew.

And Beard is 43 of 43 for the season.

The entire first few minutes was a great advertisement for "we are Oregon football." Great to see Boyett get back to the party, and LMJ get showcased.

I'm feeling good about my preducktion.

Move your feet and wrap up dang it!

The Bruins are moving the ball, but they have to be perfect for 13 plays to score.

Turner shakes off injury to make a big play.

Paulsen for another first down. He's a reliable target, isn't he? Good to see Thomas find him early. The variety in the Oregon offense ton\ight is dazzling. Best tempo ever, and that's saying something.

Got to do some crunches during the commercials. Running this blog has been hell on my workouts.

Bruins take a mercy timeout. Won't help. They only have 3. Kelly is laughing.

Great time by the offensive line. Thomas is sharp and decisive and going through his progressions.

James, running hard, gets twisted in the pile and coming off the field gingerly.

Remene gets some lemonade.

Costa for two. That's a statement. Good block by Dion Jordan on the perimeter. 200 crunches.

LMJ is standing up.

Oregon is making the Bruins work for every yard. They have to be perfect on three plays to make one first down.

Fill the gaps, dang it.

The shutout is in jeopardy. Forbath has a big leg.

The run defense is utterly ridiculous. Embarrassing even. This is a team that is 96th in the country passing the ball, and they are chewing the front seven to pieces on the ground.

Pellum should make the linebackers do 50 crunches every time they fail to fill a gap.

Not one UCLA runner has been stood up in the hole.
