The proposed conference championship game will be a home game for the team with the best conference record. If the Ducks earn their way there in 2011 or 2012, the game is at Autzen Stadium.
A conference championship is much more compelling and a much better sell with the promise of a packed house and an energized crowd. It salves the wounds a little to realize that although the California schools and new conference members got multiple sweetheart concessions in the new agreement, the title game still goes to the team that earns it on the field. A nuetral site game in Glendale or Las Vegas would have likely been a half-empty snoozefest.
Might be some interesting scenarios in the future, should a resurgent Washington State or Colorado team rise up to host a December game at their place. I think I'd watch that one on TV with a blanket and a hot drink.
