A Reminder That Football Is Not All That Important

George Schroeder of the Register-Guard writes a column about his baby son Christopher, who has survived the rigors of a heart transplant and daily kidney dialysis, and at 11 months, recently came home from the hospital. Schroeder writes of the joy of bundling up his baby and taking him for a run in the top-of-the-line jogging stroller friends chipped in to buy.

Every day of a baby's life is a miracle and a wonder, particularly for Christopher, who has survived so much. Duck fans have had their differences with Schroeder, who, as a columnist, has the tough job of writing strong opinions and detaching himself from anything like a fan's passion.

But anyone with a heart of their own has to be gladdened that the baby and his family are doing so well.

Here at The Duck Stops Here we lead with our passion, and we don't pretend to be objective. Occasionally it's important to step away from sport, or partiality, to cheer the things that matter most. Best wishes, Christopher, and grow strong.
