Hungry Like a Wulff

Paul Wulff has come up with a unique method to prepare his defense for the Oregon spread. He talked about it on his weekly radio show Tuesday. He runs two scout team offenses, and while the first is running their play the second is calling theirs, ready to line up and run right at the first team defense immediately, deftly simulating Oregon's pace.

You can read highlights of his show and Wulff's evaluation of his team's progress at the WSU football blog. He's very candid, and his answers reflect his deep roots in the program and commitment to turning things around.

Wulff is 5-29 at Washington State, after making the Division I-AA (FCS) playoffs three times at Eastern Washington. He was a Cougar offensive lineman in the late 80's and played for three successful WSU coaches, Walden, Erickson and Price. He was a four-year starter at center as a Coug, honorable mention All-America in the Sporting News in 1989, a fixture on the '88 team that won the Aloha Bowl, the first bowl win for WSU in 65 years. He's seen a turnaround take place. He's been a part of one.
