Live Game Blog: Pregame, with Upset Watch

Va Tech, driving inside six minutes, fumbles on a line plunge, and James Madison recovers. It's a destiny game now.

1st down James Madison with 2:31 to play, and the VT is out of time outs. The Hokies will be 0-2 for the first time since 1995, ESPN reports.

Hokies run the clock down to 15 seconds, punt, and Va Tech runs into the kicker, missing a block by inches.

Four seconds, victory formation, game over. The Dukes of the CAA South Division dump Virginia Tech 21-16, the second upset of the day after Kansas beat Georgia Tech 28-25.

Number 24 South Carolina beat number 22 Georgia 17-6. The Gamecocks are 2-0, 1-0 in the SEC, and have Furman at home before traveling to Auburn in two weeks. Then they get a bye before hosting number one Alabama on October 9th.

No. 10 Oklahoma up early 21-7 on number 17 Florida State. Sophomore quarterback Landry Jones has a hot hand after struggling in the opener against Utah State.

The Big-12 is down this year. The Sooners only play one other ranked team all season, when they host number 5 Texas in Red River Rivalry on Saturday October 2.

Andy McNamara of goducks reports game time weather for the Ducks will be hot and humid, in the lower 80's with a strong possibility of thunderstorms.

OregonFootball on twitter: Today's Oregon uni? Same color combo from the Michigan game in '07: Green helmet, white jersey (w/green trim), white pants.

--I like that. It's a nice, clean look, and for my money the green helmet with the mallard green iridescence is the best helmet in college football.

Jacory Harris' sideline routes take a loooooooonng time to reach their target. He's thrown 2 picks, and the Buckeyes got another wobbling scud from Terrelle Pryor, this one a 62-yarder to DeVeir Posey. The Ohio State leads 20-10 in the second, and it wouldn't be that close if Lamar Miller hadn't broke loose for an 88-yard kickoff return.

Not so fast my friend! Travis Benjamin returns a punt 79 yards for Miami, and it's 20-17. Who needs a quarterback? Uncharacteristic for a Tressel team to get worked so badly in special teams.

Ohio State in the red zone after a big kick return of their own. I hate Ohio State. A Boise State-Ohio State national championship game would be sheer torture for the entire rest of the country. I never thought I would say this, but go Beavs.

With room to run, Pryor rolling right scatterguns one to an open receiver in the end zone, behind him, incomplete and the Buckeyes have settle for a field goal, 23-17.

But now they have to kick again, and that will be an adventure.

And Harris throws another pick, though this one was in and out of the receiver's midsection.

Rob Moseley R-G blog: Dontae Williams and Josh Huff made the 72-man travel roster, Lache Seastrunk didn't. Malachi Lewis (head), Everett Benyard III (ankle) and Andres Reed (ankle) stayed home with injuries. Solis got a seat, but both Beard and Maldonado are on the plane and ahead of him. No limit on roster size for out of conference games. Cliff Harris will suit up. Dior Mathis and Terrance Mitchell stayed home.

Moseley points out that just three freshmen played in the opening game, Heimuli, Huff and Solis. Drew Howell will snap punts today, but you have to figure that all the others are on track to redshirt, injuries and special circumstances permitting.

That's a paddlin'...Oklahoma rolling 34-7 at the half over the Seminoles. Jones with the 3 tds and 321 yards passing. Will Stoops stoop to playing for poll points in the second half?

OSU 26, Miami 17 at half. It would be a closer game if Miami could keep its offense off the field.

The Buckeyes best chance for a loss this season in November 20 at Iowa. The Hawkeyes are rolling Iowa State 35-0.

Give Randy Shannon credit--he's still got Jacory Harris throwing, and Miami takes the 2nd half kickoff right down the field. Inside the 10, 3rd and nine.

auuggh, another pick, 80 yards the other way. I hate Ohio State.

DT Cameron Heyward, son of Iron Head dropped into coverage. Harris has horrible vision, an awful delivery and poor instincts. Four picks, and a walkover for OSU. Pryor cuts back for a scramble and a score, 30-17.

Harris is cramping up so bad he looks like Byron Leftwich in 2002 out there.

Jones is still in for Oklahoma, 44-7 in third quarter. Another TD pass, his fourth. Might be out by now, but still.

Pryor tosses a 2-yard shovel and the back rumbles for 42. Officials tack on a face mask. He accumulates the most misleading stats in the country. Sixty minutes of front-running Tressel magic. I hate Ohio State.

Cal pummeling Colorado 38-7. Riley and the starters still in with 7:51 to play. The Buffaloes with 4 turnovers, Riley three tds, no picks. Make it four, a little flat pass to Sofele for another score. 45-7. Cal 2-0, travels to Nevada, then Arizona in week four, their first real test.

Arizona hosts number nine Iowa next week.

Cal defense: 4 turnovers, 6 sacks. That's a romp.

LaMichael James, interviewed in the OSN pregame show, on facing a big crowd: "Don't believe the hype. The big crowd, they're just innocent bystanders. You've got to focused on what you're doing. It's like staring at the trees when you're driving a car."

And during the game LaMichael is like a Ferrari with defensive players looking like trees by the side of the road.

Oregon fans are in the extreme nosebleed seats, section GG and II, Joe Giansante reports. Who knew Joe Giansante could report anything?

3 PAC-10 games kick off at 4, Montana State at Washington State, Oregon at Tennessee, Syracuse at Washington. NAU at ASU, The Citadel at Arizona at 7, then Stanford at UCLA and Virginia at USC at 7:30.

As bad as Harris has played for Miami, he's gotten jobbed by his own receivers. They haven't made a play in a huge number of opportunities.

Darian Hagan returns a fumble 82 yards for Cal, 52-7. Huge confidence booster for that defense. The top half of the PAC-10 looks scary. Can I change my predictions. A team could finish 8-4 and have a pretty good season. Maybe John Hunt is way smarter than I thought.
