3rd Quarter--No More Raggedy Possessions

1st half stats: Thomas 13-21 152, leads all rushers with 7 carries 59 yards. LMJ contained for now, 14-54 and a touchdown. For UW Aguilar has four catches for 70 yards.

Washington 171 yards on 37 plays. Harris has had a couple of near-picks--they need to make a couple of crushing plays on Price, force some mistakes. He's played with some flair and heart so far. They haven't rattled him, and he's had several escapes.

How many dang self inflicted wounds? A 62-yard gain erased.

Are you kidding me? This is an anatomy of an upset right now. Ducks need to regroup and stop the self-inflicted wounds.

Oregon needs to assert some physical superiority. This is ridiculous.

Did I mention I like Huff returning kicks?

Love the way this team responds to challenges and adversity. There's no panic. Unlike your blogger.

1st bad field goal exchange of the year. Costa is writhing, wrenched two yards out of bounds, holding his knee.

Ducks will probably win this game, but they haven't been impressive.

Costa's injury looks bad, and decreases Oregon's margin of error for the stretch drive considerably. They would be hard-pressed to win out with Bennett.

Hideous spot.

This has been a weird game. It's like they're playing in a swamp or quicksand. Not the focused, assertive Oregon team we've seen previously. And another self-inflicted wound on a great return.

Worst discipline in penalties ever. Honestly.

Another shirt-tail tackle.

Thomas looks sharper.

James is starting to get downhill.

77 yards of penalties.

James 21 for 90, 2 scores, long run of 14. He'll break one in the 4th quarter.

Marvin Johnson with a couple of great open-field tackles today.

They shank one away from Harris. A drive here could put this away.

Do you do anything different with Thomas, knowing Costa isn't available?

Is 41 really hurt? The booing is a bad trend, I think.

DT's best game running this year.

LMJ with a great run and a frog jump.

And now DT shakes and bakes for six. Dirty play by 40. About the third late tackle I've seen, including one that may have ended Nate Costa's career.

That drive had authority.

Huard trots out the inevitable DT-Dennis Dixon comparision, which is ridiculous. The biggest similarity? They're both slender black quarterbacks. But Dennis was way faster, and Darron is way ahead of where DD was in his sophomore year. He's way ahead of where Dixon was a junior. Thomas is a better passer, a capable runner, and very cool in decision-making. Today he's 20/30 for 208, 1 td passing, 12-89 and 2 scores rushing.

Kenny Rowe with a crushing sack. Defense senses blood in the water.

The Autzen crowd contribute five yards.

Another self-inflicted wound, holding on a 3rd stop, a bonehead penalty by Harris.

Impressed really by the freshman Price. He's been poised under a lot of pressure.

You're not supposed to field a punt inside your own 10, but Cliff makes it work.

LaMichael James runs hard, for 1 yard, 3 yards or 80. He gets the most out of every carry.

Tuinei with a couple of nice catches.

  1. Dad--
How big (or little I guess) is James? The other guys tower over him. And yes, god help me I'm watching your stupid quack quacks and actually hoping they win. It feels really wrong. Come civil war though all will be back to normal and I will hate them again. Oh and tell your team flags on kickoffs are bad.

  2. Steff--

James is listed at 5-9, 185, but program heights and weights are notoriously inflated. His small stature helps him hide and dart in his cuts. Makes him really effective near the goal line.

Thanks for rooting for the Ducks once in your heartbreaking football life. And you're right, the penalties are bad.
